About Dr. Nguyen

Dr. Chi Nguyen received her Doctor of Optometry degree from Pacific University College of Optometry. Her comprehensive clinical training includes primary care, ocular disease, contact lenses, and surgery co-management through externships at Omni Eye Services, Veteran Affairs Spokane Health Care, Naval Medical Center San Diego, and Omni Eye Specialists in Denver. Furthering training, she completed her residency in Cornea and Contact Lenses at Pacific University and the Portland VA. Through this vigorous residency program, she obtained clinical expertise and competency in managing corneal disease, ocular surface disease, specialty contact lenses, and myopia control.

Dr. Nguyen focuses on addressing the needs of patients with irregular corneas like keratoconus, severe refractive error, and ocular surface disease through the use of custom soft contact lenses, corneal, and scleral GP contact lenses. In addition, her passion for myopia control arises from her own experience with orthokeratology lenses in slowing her nearsightedness. Any level of myopia in children poses a risk in developing sight-threatening eye diseases. Dr. Nguyen is proficient in various techniques including custom orthokeratology (ortho-k), MiSight, multifocal soft contact lenses, and atropine treatments to mitigate risks of long-term complications in children. Dr. Nguyen is passionate about her career as an optometrist as it enables her to connect with patients of all ages and backgrounds, all while being involved in clinical research, teaching, and consulting for pharmaceutical companies with contact lens emphasis. She is a distinguished Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO) and working towards her fellowship with the Scleral Lens Society. Dr. Nguyen is also an active member of the American Optometric Association and Colorado Optometric Association.

As a San Diego native, she enjoys sunsets and beach runs but has since traded for trail running!
